EXCLUSIVE: Scary Spice ex on divorce I DO NOT BEAR A GRUDGE AGAINST MEL B

- By Halina Watts SHOWBIZ EDITOR in Los Angeles

SPICE Girl Mel B’s ex husband would have every right to be bitter after one of Hollywood’s nastiest divorce battles.

Claims about Stephen Belafonte’s intimate private life with Scary Spice and the family nanny were laid bare in court in front of the world’s media.

Mel, 42, accused her husband of ten years of mental and physical abuse, which he has always denied.

Belafonte claimed Mel was a cocaine and alcohol addict after she alleged he got nanny Lorraine Gilles, 27, pregnant.

Yet today, in a world exclusive interview with the Sunday People, Stephen amazingly says he bears no ill will against his ex-wife despite the toxic split.

He freely admits that 2017 was the worst year in his life but is optimistic about the future and finding love again.

And he is focusing on putting the past behind him and fighting to see more of his 10-year-old stepdaughter Angel.

I met restaurant owner Stephen in downtown Los Angeles where he and music industry Steve Lobel were handing out burgers to poverty stricken people living in tents. Stephen was introduced to the homelessness project by his close pal Arthur Newsom.

Hell

Stephen started such acts of charity at his lowest moment, when Mel accused him of domestic abuse. The claims have since been dropped and Mel has lifted a restraining order she took out against him.

The film producer said: “As I complained about the lies being told about me, my friend said to me: ‘Even though people will find the truth out later, there are people worse off than you.’

“That really struck a chord and meeting and working with homeless people has been a form of therapy for me.

“I believe in karma and I’ve always tried to help people less fortunate than me. I’ve been blessed in my life and it’s OK to pass that on to the less fortunate.”

Last month the marriage ended after a lengthy divorce battle. Stephen is reported to be in line for £3million over three years from former

X Factor judge Mel and £3.5million from the sale of the home they shared together. It is believed they have an agreement over custody of their daughter Madison, six, and have vowed to destroy any “compromising videos” from their relationship.

After the divorce Stephen posted a photo of civil rights fighter Martin Luther King Jr on Instagram, writing: “In the immortal words of the late great DR Martin Luther King Junior!!!! FREE at LAST!!” Stephen said: “I am happy. I got everything I wanted. She put me through the e worst hell ever. But now it’s all over I hope. Today’s a beautiful day.”

Stephen is happy y to be moving on and even hopes they can co-parent parent together. He said: “It’s been good. I’m m just doing my life.

“My divorce is so 2017. It is 2018 now, I don’t even talk about what happened last year any more. Last year for me
