DANGER IN HIS WORDS Horror at Worboys’ old home

- By Dan Warburton

IMIELA saying he has been in prison for a long time “rightly or wrongly” suggests a lack of acceptance of his punishment, according to an expert. Prof Nicole Westmarland, of the Durham University Centre for Research into Violence and Abuse, said his case is a cause for concern, like those of John Worboys and serial rapist Anthony Curran, now free.

She said: “We need to think of the impact this will have on the survivors and the women and children that will be living in his locality. Greater reassurances are needed about postrelease offender management.” BLACK Cab rapist John Worboys could set up home in a seaside hideaway on the doorstep of four of his alleged victims.

The 60-year-old owns a luxury flat where he previously starred in amateur porn films with a pal.

The tenants fled the property in Poole, Dorset, last week after discovering he owned it.

Worboys faces a ban on living in London, where he is suspected of drugging and sexually abusing more than 200 victims.

Last night one neighbour in Poole said: “We’re all terrified he may return when he’s released.”

A legal source, who knew at least two of the fiend’s victims, said: “A couple of them came forward from Poole to say they had been attacked within a matter of miles from his flat. There may have been countless others. Those still living in Poole will be terrified to think he could return to the area where they were attacked.”

An elderly resident said: “I told the tenant who his landlord was. The next thing he had moved out.”

We can reveal that months after he was caged, Worboys sold properties in Rotherhithe, South London, and Enfield, North London. He kept hold of the twobed flat he bought in June 2006 for £185,000, which is five minutes’ drive from the coast.

Meanwhile, lawyers for Worboys’ victims want prosecutors to reassess statements from a some victims. The statements from 19 of the 105 women who contacted police were never handed to the Crown Prosecution Service and victims hope they could spark fresh charges.
