GROVES: I’LL LARGE IT

Joshua’s March date with Parker

- By Matt Bozeat

A MASSIVE year lies ahead for Chris Eubank Jr and – Anthony Joshua aside – he could be the next big star of boxing.

He has an arrogance, a style and a flamboyance about him. He has done it his own way and I admire that.

If he keeps on winning – and I expect him to beat George Groves next month – then all of those elements will pay dividends.

Floyd Mayweather Jr did it his own way, leaving Bob Arum, and since then he has been his own boss and made his own money – so it can be done.

I’m not saying Eubank is Mayweather, but in terms of the path he’s taking, you have to admire it. He’s very dedicated, committed and a consummate professional, who I worked with, don’t forget, in 2014 when we sparred for six or seven weeks ahead of me beating Groves.

He was great to be around – I looked at him and thought, ‘Bloody hell, he’s a confident young man who believes in himself’.

But his dad took him to America and got him in hard spars, he made him learn the trade in a hard way from a young age, so he has an old head of young shoulders.

Chris Snr is always around and people love him or hate him – I like him.

He k n o ws what he’s up to, it’s all part of Brand Eubank, but he was a great fighter as well, a tough son of a *****, hard as nails... just like his son. GEORGE GROVES has warned Chris Eubank Jr that size will matter most when the pair fight next month.

Groves (right) defends his WBA super-middleweight title against Eubank in Manchester on February 17 – with a place in the final of World Boxing Super Series also at stake.

He believes he is simply too Sky Sports will show the most anticipated fights of 2018, featuring Anthony Joshua, David Haye, Tony Bellew, Katie Taylor, Amir Khan & Kell Brook RECORDED a great win over David Lemieux in Canada in December. He looked fantastic and boxed well. He’s talking Gennady Golovkin next – past his best and not invincible. If Billy Joe (left) can beat GGG then, blimey, he could take the shine from Chris Eubank Jr this year. GolovkinSaunders is the one we all want, but I don’t know where he goes after that. big for Eubank – and will go on to meet either Callum Smith or Juergen Braehmer in the series final.

Eubank, odds-on favourite to beat Groves, held the British middleweight title before going up to 12st and winning the IBO super-middleweight belt last year.

Groves said: “Martin Murray LEFT me mesmerised when he won the IBF world title against Jose Pedraza.

If he can keep himself grounded – he was wearing a big, mink coat the last time I saw him – then Davis (below) is one I’m excited about.

There’s an entertainment element to him and, as a big fan of Prince Naseem Hamed and Herol Bomber Graham, G I like it!

Davis bangs hard h too and that combination can capture a whole new n audience, just like Naz did. [well beaten by Groves over 12 rounds at the O2 Arena] is a big middleweight who came up to super-middleweight and found Iw I was too big for him. “He’s since decided to go back down to middleweight. He f found out there’s a big d difference between mid middleweight and super middleweight – and Eubank will discover the same.” FIVE fights, five wins and four by way of knockout – that’s a high ratio, although it’s still too early to know if Josh Kelly is going to be a big puncher.

Trainer Adam Booth says he is the most talented fighter he has worked with.

High praise from David Haye’s former handler – he doesn’t give compliments easily e either and he knows h his stuff.

When you watch Kelly (left) you can see already that he’s a fighter who knows what he’s doing. He’s very good. ANTHONY JOSHUA expects to confirm his clash with Joseph Parker in the next 24 hours.

The unification bout between IBF, IBO and WBA champion Joshua (above) and WBO king Parker will take place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday, March 31.

Negotiations have been ongoing for several months with LIKE Josh Kelly, Buatsi is a former Olympian who showed his pedigree when he won a bronze medal in Rio in 2016.

It came a year after he won bronze at the World Amateur Championships in Bulgaria.

Buatsi (below) is a good fighter, a big puncher who lives the life. He means business and looks the part.

Under the wing of Anthony A Joshua, the Ghana-born and London-raised fighter is only 3&0, but with a few KOs has already marked himself out as a one to watch. both camps playing hardball over the financial split. But a compromise has now been reached which will see Kiwi Parker earn around 33 per cent of the proceeds.

A press conference to announce the fight will take place early this week, following Parker’s arrival in the UK.
