JURGEN: MAKE CUP MIDWEEK

“That’s not because we say it, no, only because of their commitment to the club. I am not just confident of that, I know it. It’s impossible.

“No player is here now who says, ‘OK, come on, in the middle of the JURGEN KLOPP has called on football bosses to ease the burden on players by turning the FA Cup into a midweek competitio­n. The German says the calendar is so intense “I say that because it’s h how I see the commitment o of the players. I have not nothing that says it is certain – only my feeling. “I don’t have a contract with them and then they write it and subscribe and say they will never do that, but it is just my feeling. “We are not together for 10 years or so here. And also it’s not just starting but it’s still all fresh and the direction and the developmen­t is the right direction. “I know it’s far away from being perfect but it’s on a good way. It that demands on players are now impossible. “There’s a moment when somebody has to say, ‘Please don’t forget the players in all of this’,” he said.

“Two weeks after next season starts we will stand here again and you will ask me, ‘Why did he play like he played?’ and I will say it’s because he had no time off since 1960-something!

“If you want to keep the quality high you have to think about cutting FA Cup games, playing them in midweek, and then we could stop earlier – or start next season later.”
