Out of hell’s kitchen

RAMSAY BOASTS OF SPEED CAMERA DODGE

- By James Desborough

GORDON Ramsay has admitted dodging speed cameras on US freeways by wrapping cling film on his Ferrari’s number plate.

The TV chef loves driving like a bat out of hell on the motorways around Los Angeles in the early hours.

And he claims he never gets a ticket because the cling film on his number plate reflects any camera flash and stops his high-speed motor being identified.

Ramsay, 51, who opened his latest restaurant on Las Vegas Boulevard on Friday night, said: “I drive my cars at night when no one sees me.

“I’ll take it out at 2.30 in the morning on the freeway and I’ll blast on the motorway and no police catch me and no cameras because I wrap my number plates with cling film.

“It’s a great thing for a chef when they get your own Ferrari, just wrap it with cling film,” the dad of four said.

“It won’t photograph, it reflects. Brilliant! It’s a great tip. I’m trying to help you...

Brutal

“So get rolls of cling film when you g get y your Ferrari and wrap p the front so you won’t get caught speeding.”

The speed limit on most Los Angeles freeways is 65mph.

Ramsay’s Ferrari California T can do almost 200mph. But the gobby chef, who has eight Ferraris at home in Britain plus his soft-top in the States, claims he is embarrassed driving to work k in the £160,000 Italian supercar during the day.

Responding to criti- cism of his show- off style, the Hell’s Kitchen star said: “I get a lot of criticism for being g

blunt, brutally honest. It’s because I have never forgotten to this day where I’ve come from, how hard I’ve worked. “Someo “Someone said to me, ‘Easy for you, yo you go to work in a Ferrari’. “N “No, I don’t. I’m embarra rassed to go to work in a Ferrari, I’m embarrassed to drive them. “It’s just something that I absolutely love, the p perfection of it. Because e everything that I see on that st steering wheel, on that wh wheel, on that leather, I put on n th the plate.” R Ramsay, who has previously admitted having cosmetic procedures, looked more puffyfaced than usual when he opened the Las Vegas restaurant – named Hell’s Kitchen after his hit TV series.
