Newport to give all that they’ve got

club who led 1-0 at the break thanks to a goal from Irish striker Padraig Amond.

But after sending on both Dele Alli and Son Heung-min from the bench, Kane grabbed an equaliser when he turned in a Kieran Trippier corner at the far post.

“I’m gutted if I’m honest because we conceded so late in the game,” Flynn said.

“But they are a quality side and in the second half we couldn’t really get at them.

“The first goal was important for us but it’s something else for the club to look forward to. We were nearly there. We could taste it but we switched off one minute and Harry Kane scored.

“The big boys can punish you. That’s why they’re getting paid so much and that’s why they’re playing in the top leagues. It’s going to be a tough ask at Wembley, but we’ll go there and give it a good go and you never know.”

Pochettino may be a target for Real Madrid if they decide to get rid of Zinedine Zidane, but he looked like he was going to be out-thought by Flynn.

The rookie manager – in his first full season – frustrated Spurs with a five-man defence but his team broke quickly and set up plenty of first half chances.

Amond finished off one with a superb header from a Robbie Willmott cross before half-time and Spurs looked like they could become the first top flight side to lose to Newport for 54 years.

But just as Newport were about to celebrate making the fifth round – and adding to the £500,000 they have made from their Cup run so far – Kane stole in to score and break their hearts.

Notts County came from behind to earn another crack at Premier League boys Swansea. Luciano Narsingh fired Carlos Carvahal’s side ahead before Jon Stead levelled for the League Two outfit.

Boss Kevin Nolan said: “I’m absolutely delighted. I thought the boys were fantastic, and we were unfortunate not to go in the break level, but the reaction in the second half was brilliant.

“The lads’ work-rate was brilliant, and the togetherness, and the communication – we were magnificent.”

Huddersfield boss David Wagner was left frustrated after his team failed to see off Championship strugglers Birmingham. Stevie Mounie fired the Terriers ahead only for Lukas Jutkiewicz to level for the West Midlanders.

Wagner said: “I’m not pleased with the result because we wanted to go through to the next round today. I am pleased with the effort and attitude of the players though.”
