Harry becomes close pals with Meghan’s dad Prince phones to give him updates on wedding plans
PRINCE Harry has struck up a close friendship with Meghan Markle’s dad,calling him regularly in Mexico with updates on their wedding.
The royal has had “many conversations” with father- in- law to be Thomas Markle, 73, who has previously spoken about his wish to walk his daughter down the aisle at Windsor Castle on May 19.
Revealing their blossoming friendship, mum-of-one Lori Davis, 38, who has enjoyed several dates with Thomas, said: “He thinks Harry is a great guy and couldn’t have wished for a better son-in-law. “He is delighted for them both.” She added: “Tom misses his daughter terribly. He and Meghan have always been really close.”
Thomas has yet to meet Harry, 33, in person but their bond began when the prince called him to ask for Meghan’s hand in marriage.
Lori also rubbished reports Thomas been snubbed for the wedding and that Prince William will give Meghan, 36, away.
Respect
“Out of respect for the Palace, Harry and Meghan, Tom does not say too much but I cannot imagine him not being invited, as close as he is to Meghan,” she said. “He’d love to walk her down the aisle.” And she dismissed reports he was too ill to travel as overblown. “Tom is fine. He does walk with a slight hobble but nothing that would stop him travelling to the UK or attending the wedding,” she added. Lori and her 10-yearold girl have grown close to Thomas since he moved to Rosarito, Mexico, after being declared bankrupt. The former real estate broker also praised his f atherly instinct.“Tom lives in the same neighbourhood as a friend of mine, and my daughter has a lot of friends there too,” explained Lori, who was pictured out enjoying pizza with Thomas just days ago. “He would see her riding her bike and stop and comment on how it reminded him of his daughter playing when she was young, and he missed his children. “He really is a lovely guy. He’s not the recluse people say. Sure, he’s private. He stays to himself somewhat, but he’s very friendly.”
