Enders Kara: I’m engaged! Strictly champ to waltz down aisle with doctor

EX- EASTENDER Kara Tointon is about to do just what the doctor ordered – by marrying him.

The TV favourite, who has been dating Dr Marius Jensen for more than a year, was this week wearing a huge ruby and diamond sparkler on her wedding finger.

But while former dance champ Kara couldn’t stop smiling, she was determined to keep details of the proposal Strictly private.

“I’m not saying anything – I cringe when I read about my love life,” she said.

Kara, 34, who played Dawn Swann in EastEnders, once dated Albert Square co-stars Joe Swash and James Alexandrou.

After winning Strictly in 2010, she had a three-year relationsh­ip with dance partner Artem Chigvintse­v and spoke about her heartbreak when they split.

Her faith in love was restored when she met chiropract­or Marius Jensen, creator of fitness regime the Jensen Method.

They were first spotted together last summer, watching tennis at Wimbledon.

Kara has also starred in ITV drama Mr Selfridge as the store magnate’s wife Rosalie.

But recently she’s been keeping a lower profile, moving away from TV to theatre.

She appeared in the Royal Shakespear­e Company’s Twelfth Night and enjoyed being away from the small screen.

She said: “When I went into EastEnders I experience­d a little bit of celebrity. After doing Strictly it went crazy. It didn’t sit comfortabl­y with me. “But now no one really bothers me as I’m not on TV enough. It’s come full circle to a place where I’m happy. Kara says her parents didn’t want her to star in Enders as they found it depressing. And while she says she learned a lot from the show, she is glad to be out of soaps now. “I often came away thinking I didn’t do my best. It was a factory, a machine, and I don’t think that suits me. “I’ve since worked on projects where I’ve had time to do a good job.” One of those jobs was undoubtedl­y her documentar­y about dyslexia. Kara, who suffers from the con condition, is campaignin­g for earlier diagnosis diagnosis.
