DDDDDD but I like to keep away from the fight

CHRISTIAN BENTEKE hopes the pressure on Belgium’s golden generation will not ruin their World Cup when they tackle England.

The Crystal Palace striker, who will feature against former club Liverpool at Selhurst Park on Saturday, is desperate to face Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.

But he is aware the brilliant Belgian bunch are in danger of falling short – just like England’s era of David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard.

Belgium boast Premier League stars galore with Benteke (below) poised to join Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard in Russia this summer.

But asked if they felt the pressure to succeed after years of unfulfille­d promise, he admitted: “I would say so, yes. The expectatio­n is going to be higher because of our generation and the talented players that we have.

“But we know that and we have to make sure we are able to deal with it.”

Helping Benteke and Co handle a nation’s expectatio­n is serial success Thierry Henry. The former Arsenal Invincible and France World Cup winner is Benteke’s childhood idol and now assistant to Belgium boss Roberto Martinez. For the 27-year-old born in Congo’s Kinshasa, it is the stuff of fantasy. He added: “I’ve always said that my hero is Thierry Henry. “The way he was playing, his natural goalscorin­g ability and also the type of man he was off the pitch. He’s a great guy.
