returned to Glass. And last May, within 18 months of first hooking up with him, Sophie died in a road crash.

Glass, 30, was given a two-year suspended sentence in Thailand after admitting causing her death by reckless driving.

Hours after she died, John flew from Bangkok to Phuket so he and Glass could tell Shaye his mum was never coming back.

John says: “It was awful. We told him Mummy wasn’t here any more and what had happened. There were a lot of questions such as, ‘Did the lorry really run her over?’ and ‘Why didn’t mummy get out of the way?’ I took him straight home to Bangkok with me.

“For weeks he had some dark times at bedtime and couldn’t get to sleep. I don’t think he could understand why Sophie wasn’t with him any more. They’d had such an amazingly close relationship.” John was shocked when Glass posted a bizarre Youtube video with grisly details of the accident. His graphic description of Sophie’s injuries was slammed by followers. John adds: “It was an odd post to say the least. I don’t know why he did it.” John tells how Sophie had been depressed after a series of rows with Glass, who she met at a Christmas party in Thailand in 2015. After the bust-up in January 2017 she posted a tearful video to followers saying she felt “emotionally insecure” with Danny. She added: “I cannot be in contact with him because I do not feel safe with him. I’ve allowed myself to stay in a situation I have not felt safe with for a long time.’”

Sophie then visited John in Bangkok and they talked about the possibility of living together again.

But the last time John saw Sophie was the weekend before the accident after flying to Phuket to visit Shaye.

It was a grim encounter, said John, who first met Sophie in 2008 at a raw food festival in Cornwall.

He recalled: “She was living in a really basic apartment, two doors down from Danny because they’d decided not to live together.

“Sophie was always a really tidy person but the place was a mess. Her front door had a big crack in the middle and the bathroom sink was full of dirty bowls and stale water. It was a bit like a junkie’s squat.

“Sophie had always
