‘I dressed as king for Meg’

- By James Desborough

JAMES Corden has spoken for the first time about what really happened at the royal wedding, where he performed dressed as Henry VIII.

The Late Late Show host said: “I was performing and I did a 10-minute bit in the evening and I did it dressed as this, like, mock Tudor Henry VIII.”

Laughing off rumours he asked Prince William, Harry and Meghan to take part in a “dance-off”, Corden said: “That isn’t true – there was no danceoff. I never saw a dance-off anywhere.

“At the core of it, of course, is that this is a huge state occasion and millions of people all over the world are watching this wedding...

“But, actually, the centre of it is two people, who have decided that they love each other and they want to spend their lives together.”

During the interview with US shock jock Howard Stern, Corden, 39, said despite his royal connections, he didn’t think Meghan and Harry would ever appear on his CBS talk show.

He said: “I don’t think that is something any member of the royal family would do. Because I think the monarchy have to protect the very thing that they have got. They cannot really become celebrities.

“You would have to understand the level of scrutiny that family are under.”

Corden said of Prince Harry: “My experience of him is that he is an unbelievably forward-thinking, committed person, who doesn’t really do anything by halves. And I genuinely believe it is truly beautiful.

“He is an incredibly bright and interesting guy, and he has real plans for the things he wants to do. That’s what I find impressive about him.”

He added Meghan is “so lovely”.
