RUTHLESS KEV PLOTS A TREBLE

- By Keith Webster

KEVIN DURANT warned the rest of the NBA that Golden State will be back for the ‘threepeat’ next season after winning back-to-back titles.

Durant joined the Warriors two years ago and has not only lifted the crown in both seasons but has been named Most Valuable Player of the Finals both times.

But despite having superstars like Steph Curry as team-mates, Durant knows the key to success has had little to do with individuals, something that will make them dangerous again next season.

After beating Lebron James’s Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night to wrap up a 4-0 win in the bestof-seven series, Durant said: “We all want something that’s bigger than ourselves.

“We love to see each other succeed. We love to come together and figure stuff out on the court. We have a bunch of guys in the locker room who don’t care about anything other than being better players every day and winning. “It feels so good to be a part of a group like this and to win two championships, that’s all that you want as a player.” Curry led the way in game four with 37 points but Durant delivered 20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to finish out a series that he dominated from start to finish to clinch the MVP award. But for the 29-year-old forward, the trophies are just an added bonus. Durant said: “I feel indebted to the game. I feel like it saved my life. “It took me out of an environment that I didn’t think I would ever be out of. I thought I was going to live in Maryland my whole life. “But to travel all round the world and meet people, to play in different arenas, go to different cities and countries, I will be forever grateful.”
