He is looking after their children Junior, 13, and Princess, ten, while Katie – who has agreed to take a test for substances – finalises her divorce with Kieran Hayler.

Over the past month former glamour model Katie, 40, has been boozing and partying with a series of men including Essex fitness instructor Kris Boyson, 29, and Brighton footballer Shane Duffy, 26.

A source said: “Peter’s been very worried about Katie and the children and he has asked her to take a drugs test. Katie has agreed to do it. He wants to be assured he has nothing to worry about.”

Katie has admitted taking drugs in her four-year marriage to first husband Peter, 45, when she was battling postnatal depression.

In her autobiography in 2014, she said Peter – who is against drugs – threatened to leave her when he found out.

Katie’s latest difficulties began in April when it emerged she was being taken to an employment tribunal by former nanny Nikki Brown, with whom husband No 3, ex-stripper Kieran, allegedly had an affair.

Also, her second husband, former cage fighter Alex Reid, 42, reported her to police over allegations she had shown revenge porn about him. No charges have been brought.

Katie is also coming to terms with her mum Amy’s terminal cancer diagnosis.

Meanwhile, Peter has become friendly with Kieran, 31, father to her youngest children Jett, three, and Bunny, two.

On Friday, Katie confirmed Junior and Princess are living with their dad Peter for the time being.

Peter was fuming after he found she had left the kids alone with new boyfriend Kris. Her representative said: “What is important is that the focus is on what is best for the children during tough times, as Peter has acknowledged.” Peter kept Princess and Junior over the half-term break and prevented them from attending their mum’s boozy 40th birthday celebrations in London. He knew the event would have free-flowing alcohol and did not want the kids to go. Peter has two more children with his new wife, doctor Emily Macdonagh, 28. Katie ended her rocky marriage to Kieran last month and was linked to footballer Duffy just days later. Peter and Katie met during TV’S I’m A Celebrity in 2004. After they split in 2009, Peter said: “I’m not jealous of anybody until Katie’s drunk. There’s nobody I feel threatened by when she’s sober. “But if she’s been drinking, I know she’s capable of anything. The devil gets inside her and she’s a nightmare.” Katie also has a son Harvey, 16, with ex-footballer Dwight Yorke. She and Peter declined to comment last night.
