LIGHTS, CAMERA ...OCHE IT’S CLIFF THE MOVIE STARRING... CLIFF
SIR Cliff Richard should play himself in a movie of his life, says best pal Gloria Hunniford.
TV presenter Gloria said Cliff may be 77 but his youthful looks mean he would be the perfect choice for the lead in a biopic.
Gloria, 78, added: “I think there will be a film about his life. He’s so young looking, he’ll play himself.”
Sir Cliff made his big screen debut in 1959 Britflick Serious Charge. His 1963 leading role in Summer Holiday was a career high.
A film on the Peter Pan of pop would shine a light on his relationship with tennis star Sue Barker and his record-breaking chart success – Cliff is the only Brit to have a Top 10 hit in six decades.
But he is trying to forget the last time he attracted millions of viewers – when the Beeb broadcast a raid on his house, live.
Gloria said he has bounced back after his ordeal, when he was wrongly branded a paedophile. She added: “He is doing great. All through the years of torture he still kept his career going.”
Congratulations singer Sir Cliff is suing the Beeb for £600,000 after the raid linked to a sex assault claim was shot at his home in Sunningdale, Berks, in 2014. He denied the allegations and was never charged. It was later announced he would face no action.
He wants damages for misuse of private information and breaches of data protection rules. A judge is considering his decision.
The BBC revealed it has so far spent £153,025 on legal fees to defend its case.
