What Ben told Jen before rehab
BROKEN Batman star Ben Affleck told ex Jennifer Garner “I want to be a better person” before she swept him off to rehab.
The actor’s latest booze hell hit headlines last week as his “guardian angel” arrived at his LA mansion with a Bible and a lawyer, before driving him to a Malibu clinic.
Now it has emerged that the estranged couple have settled their complicated divorce case – and Affleck, 46, is desperate to change for the sake of their three young children, whose custody they share.
A source said: “Ben wants to be a better person for his family.
“Last year Jen came up with rules she encouraged him to stick too. She is like his guardian angel. She is the only one who can help him. She still has those rules and is doing her best to guide him. He has told her he wants to be a better person.”

Garner, 46, was raised a Methodist and takes children Violet, 12, Seraphina, nine, and Samuel, six, to church every Sunday. “Her faith is helping her through this and she hopes it helps Ben,” said the source.
The double Oscar winner is believed to be planning to stay for “an extended period of time” at the Canyon Treatment Center.
The rehab clinic boasts of healing stars in a meditation dome and a therapeutic sweat lodge. Patients are urged to sing, chant and even write about their demons daily. Justice League star Affleck has a self-confessed problem with alcohol. He has been in rehab twice – once in 2001, and again in December.
In May he moved into his new home in Pacific Palisades, close to Jennifer, from whom he split in 2015.
He was in a relationship with TV producer Lindsay Shookus, 38, but was recently linked to Playboy model Shauna Sexton, 22.
His divorce settlement from Garner will be filed after he leaves rehab, according to entertainment website TMZ.
