Super Mario and Ronaldo on a roll

-

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S new team made it two out of two in Serie A as champions JUVENTUS beat LAZIO 2-0.

Miralem Pjanic put Juve ahead with half an hour gone in Turin and Mario Mandzukic sealed victory 15 minutes from time.

The result lifted Massimiliano Allegri’s side to six points after their opening two fixtures while Lazio are still looking for their first points.

Senad Lulic threatened twice for Lazio but it was Juve who took the lead after 30 minutes when Pjanic struck from outside the box. Giorgio Chiellini had a long-range effort blocked after going forward for a corner and Ronaldo tested Thomas Strakosha again before Mandzukic (right) doubled the lead.

Ronaldo was the provider and the Croat struck from close range.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN also maintained a perfect start after three games when their ‘big three’ helped them ease past ANGERS 3-1 in Paris.

Edinson Cavani celebrated his first appearance of the season by firing the opener before Kylian Mbappe and Neymar also scored.

Thomas Mangani converted from the spot for the visitors. SCHALKE slumped to a 2-1 defeat at WOLFSBURG in their Bundesliga opener. John Brooks put the hosts ahead but Schalke had Matija Nastasic red-carded for a challenge on Wout Weghorst. Schalke equalised through Nabil Bentaleb’s penalty, but Daniel Ginczek grabbed a stoppage-time winner.
