CLARETS ENJOY A SHARE OF SUCCESS

IT’S not exactly Carpool Karaoke when Burnley’s players share lifts into training – but skipper Ben Mee reckons a few words on the road have helped the Clarets get their season back into gear.

Sean Dyche’s men looked set for a struggle when they picked up just a point from their opening five Premier League games before last weekend’s 4-0 demolition of Bournemouth.

But Mee insists there was never any panic inside the Turf Moor dressing room – after revealing a unique bond that exists between the players in Dyche’s squad.

“We’re a tight group here,” said the 29-year-old centreback. “So when we didn’t get off to the greatest of starts we didn’t get too flat about it because we know how far we have come over the last few seasons.

“We’ve got players who have been around the block a bit and we come together as a trip to Cardiff today it will be their 14th game of a season that has already seen them eliminated from the Europa League and knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League One Burton Albion.

After finishing seventh in the Premier League last time, Mee insists the Clarets are now a different beast. But he doesn’t think there is any chance of Dyche (left) ditching the in-your-face methods that have taken the club this far.

Mee said: “We like to think we’re a bit better than the little old Burnley that first came into the Premier League.

“We want a lot more than just scrapping at the bottom of the league.

“We finished seventh last season and people are going to expect a bit more from us.

“Teams now expect a tough game when they play Buurnley, especially when they come to our place, and they will raise their game.”
