I’ve patched things up with long-lost dad Rod
ROCKER’S ELDEST CHILD SPEAKS OUT
ROD Stewart’s love child has told how she overcame drug addiction and has now reconciled with the father she didn’t see for decades.
Sarah Streeter was given up for adoption by Rod and his teenage girlfriend Susannah Boffey in the 1960s, and she didn’t learn that the rocker was her dad until she turned 18.
They made contact but she soon fell into a cycle of drug and alcohol dependence. However, she has now been clean for two years and says things with Rod, 73, are better than ever.
Sarah, 55, said: “Our relationship has evolved a lot in the last few years. It’s taken its time because he’s not just my dad, is he? He’s a big star. So, of course, that makes it difficult.
“But over the years it has become much more relaxed and now he’s just Dad to me.
“You can’t get away from the fact that he’s Rod Stewart, the star, but when we’re together I put that at the back of my mind.”
Rod has been married three times – to Alana Stewart, Rachel Hunter and current wife Penny Lancaster – and has eight children, Sarah, Kimberley, 39, Sean, 38, Ruby, 31, Renee, 26, Liam, 24, Alastair, 12, and Aiden, seven. Sarah has now met all her half siblings, except for Sean, and has been brought into Rod’s inner circle. She said: “I feel like I am a genuine part of his extended family, which is wonderful.”
Rod didn’t see his eldest child for decades until he got back in touch when her adoptive mother Evelyn died in 2007.
He said: “She calls me Dad and I call her my daughter. We’re doing our best.”
