Bluebirds on song WARNOCK’S CITY FIND THEIR VOICE

- By HARRY PRATT at The Cardiff City Stadium

BOTH may be suffering from promotion blues but Cardiff were sleeping a lot better than Fulham last night after this crazy six-goal thriller.

Yes, life in the top-flight can be cruel and harsh for any team which is suddenly competing against the big boys.

But that does not mean they cannot produce classic encounters such as this basement battle in the Welsh capital.

Certainly, City boss Neil Warnock felt that way at the final whistle as his side celebrated their first win of the season – to leap off the bottom of the table.

A sizzling attacking display, which produced two goals in each half gave their campaign lift off.

Afterwards Warnock could scarcely stop grinning as he beamed: “I’m both relieved and happy. It’s been a long season till now. To wait until mid October for your first win is very hard.

“But it was a brilliant game to watch. I told the guys beforehand this is when our season starts – and again at half-time.

“We now know we can compete at this level. This gives me, the players, and the fans a huge lift.”

Opposite number Slavisa Jokanovic was suitably unimpressed by his side’s latest horror show.

Three losses on the bounce and 12 goals conceded underlines why Fulham are in free fall. They have now droped to 18th.

Serbian coach Jokanovic moaned: “The process to settle into the Premier League is long and we’re frustrated.

“We had four centre backs, we defended in numbers but still conceded four. There are positives but the negatives are killing us.”

The first half produced four goals in 34 minutes.

Fulham’s Andre Schurrle sparked the fest with a 25-yard rocket on 11 minutes.

Two minutes later Fulham were level from a neat finish by Josh Murphy.

On 20 minutes City were ahead again with Bobby Reid scoring.

Then with 15 minutes left of the first half Alexsander Mitrovic played in Ryan Sessegnon, who calmly tucked home.

Cardiff went ahead again when Callum Paterson hit a fine strike.

And sub Kadeem Harris sealed a great afternoon by tapping in a killer fourth.
