GARY Barlow has said he is quitting music... but only for a year.

The Take That frontman has revealed he is planning a sabbatical after the band’s European tour next spring so that he can “live a bit”.

And aged 47 he admitted that you “don’t know what is around the corner” so he wants to tick some things off his bucket list.

“I am working so hard because I am planning a year off. A sabbatical,” he said.

“The last five years I have been working harder because I want to earn myself some serious time off. It might only be six months in reality but there’s stuff I want to do.

“We don’t know what is round the corner for any of us – I want to do it now.

“Things I want to do other than music that I’ve never had a chance to do.”

Gary joins Take That bandmates Mark Owen, 46, and Howard Donald, 50, for their Greatest Hits tour in Sheffield on April 12. It ends in the Swiss city of Zurich at the end of June.

Gary said: “I feel like I am on the run the whole time. I am always running. I want to live a bit. I started work at 11 and I haven’t really stopped. There’s a million things I want to do.” Take That formed in 1989, and when they weren’t together Gary worked on solo projects including a stint replacing Simon Cowell on The X Factor. Gary also told Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast he fears social media. He said: “You see people who have had a 50-year career – with one tweet, destroy it. And it’s an anxiety I have. “I was told I have to have Twitter or you won’t get any votes. It terrifies me. I look at it sometimes and it looks a little bit like the devil sat on my phone.” Presenter FIONA BRUCE, 54, is reportedly in talks to become the first female host of prestigious Question Time. US pop star AARON CARTER, 30, reveals he’s expecting his first child with girlfriend Lina Valentina Actor and Dancing on Ice star RAY QUINN, 30, bags a role in Chester soap Hollyoaks
