Wonderful’ mum of 4 stabbed to death on school run ALINY ATTACKED WHILE HOLDING TODDLER

- By Amy Sharpe

A MUM was knifed to death while holding her toddler just yards from a school where she was due to pick up her other children.

Aliny Mendes was attacked by a man who leapt from a black 4x4 at 3pm.

Tributes last night flooded in for the 39-year-old, who had been on her way to collect her three sons, six, eight and 12 with her young daughter.

One friend called Aliny “a wonderful mum, the kind of woman who was loved everywhere she went”.

Another said: “Aliny was my best friend, we knew each other for 15 years. She was so sweet and loved. It is too much to take in. It’s so frightening. I am in too much shock.”

And a parent at the school where the victim was heading said: “She was very, very popular. The whole school community is shocked and will do anything to support the children.”

A priest called Father Gianom, who said he recently baptised Aliny’s daughter at her local Catholic church, said: “She was full of life, a nice woman.”

Aliny was attacked near Meadow Primary School, in Ewell, Surrey, on Friday. Police arrested a man in his 40s from Epsom on suspicion of murder and another in his 50s from London on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detectives said the attacker was believed to be known to the victim. A witness told how he saw the car mount the curb before the stabbing.

He added: “A male got out and chased this woman a couple of feet then grabbed her and she fell to the ground.” As floral tributes piled up at the death scene, friends claimed Aliny lived in a police- protected home. She had emigrated from Brazil in 2013 with her husband for a “better life”.

Plans were said to be under way to raise money to repatriate her body to her home state of Minas Gerais.

A crowdfunding page is also being set up for her children. One friend said: “She has no family in the UK who can help.”

Surrey Police Chief Inspector Michael Hodder said: “We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. The victim’s children are being provided with support and care.”

The Independent Office for Police Conduct said last night: “We have been made aware of the incident by Surrey Police and understand a referral is due to be made.”
