Puel going Madd for No.10’s cutting edge

-

“At the beginning of the season he was more clinical – he needs to find his edge again.

“It’s not easy for any young players to keep the same level of consistency and concentration.

“But I am here to take decisions for the good of this football club.”

Puel added that Maddison’s interests would be best served through remaining at the King Power Stadium.

He said: “James is just starting his career in the Premier League. He needs to keep his focus and concentration.

“Young players need to show it for 90 minutes. He is a young player who has not shown that consistency all the time. He needs to make progress.

“He will have the chance to make mistakes at this club – because we are patient with them.

“If there is interest from other clubs, that means he is showing his quality. But there is still a lot for James to learn and room to develop. This is the right place for him to work.

Puel (right) admits he must find a way of preventing early goals.

Chase

The Foxes have found themselves trying to fight back from falling behind on 11 occasions this season.

He added: “We need to concentrate – especially early on.

“We’ve conceded goals too early – 11 in the first 15 minutes – it’s too many. A lot of times we have to chase the game and find solutions against the clock.

“Our record in the second half is very good. If I could find the right words that I’ve been using at halftime, to say at the beginning, I would use them.

“I really want to start the first half of matches like we start the second.”
