Silva: Liverpool don’t have our know-how

- By Steve Bates

DAVID SILVA has claimed Manchester City have been there, done it and got the T-shirt when it comes to nail-biting title battles.

And he’s piled more pressure on rivals Liverpool by insisting City proved in 2012 and 2014 they have the bottle to cope.

City face Chelsea today aiming to turn the spotlight back on Liverpool with a victory over Maurizio Sarri’s stars.

“Since I arrived, every time we’ve had this sort of pressure of having to fight for the Premier League trophy, the team has always worked well. Hopefully, this season we’ll be able to do it again. We have a squad full of great players with a lot of quality,“he said.

“The experience of many games in the Premier League, in moments like now, it helps you a lot.

“That’s because you have done it all before and you know exactly what can happen.

“I think the next game is always the most important one and beating Chelsea on Sunday is going to be really vital if we want to become champions.”

Meanwhile, City boss Pep Guardiola has claimed finding a long-term replacement for Fernandinho this summer is a top priority after missing out on Ajax star Frenkie De Jong who is joining Barcelona.

“We are trying to help Fernandinho in that position,“he said. “We are not close but until the summer we have time.”
