Salah gets Reds on track as Klopp says: We’re back to best

NORMAL service was resumed as Liverpool moved back to the top of the Premier League.

Deadly duo Mo Salah and Sadio Mane were both on target as Jurgen Klopp’s men responded to Manchester City’s surge to the summit on goal d i f f ere n c e wi t h a performanc­e t ha t indicated their recent dip in form isn’t terminal.

The sight of the Reds once again attacking the opposition at full throttle from all angles was surely enough to calm the jittery Anfield fans who are living every kick of Klopp’s bid to end their club’s 29- year wait for the championsh­ip.

And, oh yes – Liverpool also got the benefit of another poor refereeing decision.

There have been a clutch of them this season – the latest when Mane rose to head Liverpool into the lead from an offside position after 23 nervous minutes.

There were no harsh words from Klopp about the officials this time.

Just a handshake at the final whistle and some praise for his team as they opened up a three-point gap on the reigning champions.

Klopp said: “The whole game was good. Our counter-pressing was the best it’s been for a while and that is always the sign of a good game for us.

“Offensivel­y we were creative, with power and speed, and all the goals were brilliant.

“So it was just a really, really good game and a deserved three points.”

But assistant referees appear to be operating in the twilight zone when it comes to Liverpool.

Mane put them ahead at West Ham in midweek when James Milner crossed from a blatantly latantly offside position.

This time it was s Adam Nunn who failed l ed to recognise that Mane ne was a fraction beyond the last defender when he rose to meet another Milner cross.

Once again there e was no flag. Once again n Mane scored, this time with a meaty header.

Bournemout­h h boss Eddie Howe was up against it from the he start, going into the game without Callum Wilson, David Brooks, Lewis Cook, Simon Francis ncis and Charlie Daniels. ls.
