SCHOOLS OUT... THE SUN’S OUT UK set to top temperatur­es in Maldives

BRITAIN BRIT is set to bask in a 34C heatwave heat this week – making it hotter hotte than the Maldives.

The start of the school holidays will see temperatur­es te rocket thanks to a scorch scorching air from France and Spain.

For Forecaster­s are expecting the hottest day of the year on Wednesday with parts of central, cen southern and eastern areas swelte sweltering in more than 34C (94F) heat.

In contrast, temperatur­es in the Maldi Maldives are set to reach 30C.

Met Office chief meteorolog­ist A Andy Page said: “As we head into next w week temperatur­es will increase daily a across much of England and Wales.

“Temperatur­es could reach 34C by Wednesday in parts of central, southern or eastern areas and heatwave thresholds are likely to be hit in some places.

“But northweste­rn parts of the UK will experience spells of rain – which could be heavy at times – and strong winds, bringing a risk of coastal gales.”

The hols got off to an unsettled start yesterday. Umbrellas were out in force in Newcastle at the Pride festival.

In Suffolk, organisers of the Latitude Festival delayed performanc­es on three main stages as storm clouds hovered over Southwold’s Henham Park.

In East Sussex, a kitesurfer was killed after he crashed into concrete and was dragged across rocks in what police described as a “tragic accident” after a gust at Camber Sands, near Rye.

A tornado swept through parts of Greater Manchester and Cheshire, damaging buildings and cars on Friday.

And trees were uprooted at Stamford Park in Altrincham.
