READING SHEFF WED OWLS BOSS IT

No manager, no sweat for Wednesday

- By HECTOR NUNNS at the Madejski Stadium

CARETAKER Sheffield Wednesday boss Lee Bullen looks just the job for landing the role full-time.

The Scot saw his 10 men win with goals from impressive free transfer Kadeem Harris, Sam Hutchinson and sub Lucas Joao.

Bullen (right) is in his third stint in temporary charge – this time after the shock departure of Steve Bruce to Newcastle.

With games against Barnsley, Millwall and Luton next, Bullen can put a strong case to owner Dejphon Chansiri.

This success was achieved despite Keiren Westwood being sent off with 10 minutes to go for hauling down Mo Barrow.

Bullen said: “It was a very good win. The first time I was caretaker we beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 and then lost the next READING SHEFFWED 4 .........Shots on Target .........5 6 ........ “If the chairman goes with me, then I’ll feel I am ready for it. I am very privileged to be doing it. The chairman will decide, my sole focus is now Barnsley.

“But it’d be a great opportunity for anyone who was offered this job.

“The result was what you’d have dreamed of, as for the performance we can do better.

“We had four strikers on the bench today to change it, a couple of them adaptable. Sam Winnall didn’t even make the squad. It can be tough to keep everyone onside. We might have to let one or two go, but good players attract interest.

“We have a decision to make on Keiren Westwood about whether we appeal, he insists he didn’t touch the boy.”

Reading players and fans were furious after being denied a penalty at 0- 0, with Andy Yiadom’s effort seeming to strike Tom Lees’ arm.

Fernando Forestieri is appealing after being found guilty by an FA commission of using racist language and banned for six matches last week – and came off the bench. The Owls took advantage when Harris skipped past Yiadom and then coolly placed the ball into the net for a sparkling debut strike.

But Reading were level when Yakou Meite slotted a header past Westwood from Josh Barrett’s cross.

Wednesday waited less than two minutes before reclaiming the lead, Hutchinson powering in a header from Barry Bannan’s corner. Westwood was given his marching orders before Joao scored the third.
