LEEDS ARE ROOFELESS Bielsa misses Kemar’s killer touch

-

After missing out on the playoffs, Bielsa’s men are tipped by many to win automatic promotion.

But they have sold last term’s top scorer Kemar Roofe.

And yesterday they blew a chance to seal back- to- back wins after Forest grabbed a late equaliser in a game the home side dominated from the off.

A host of missed chances came back to haunt Leeds when Lewis Grabban cancelled out Pablo Hernandez’s opener 13 minutes from time.

And boss Bielsa says there was no doubt who should have won the game. He said: “It is disappointing, but I feel this is a team that is growing.

“They are not losing the ball easily and did not concede many counter attacks, we had control of the game.

“We win if we score the chances we create.

Forest had two corners and they scored from one of them, whereas we created 10 chances to score the same.

“Would I like us to score more goals? Of course I would. The players out on the pitch had the chances but did not score.

“We should have won, but we just did not score.” With last season’s leading scorer Roofe leaving for Anderlecht and Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah not involved, all eyes were on Patrick Bamford to step up.

Bamford hit the bar seven minutes into the second half even though he failed to connect properly to Jack Harrison’s ball into the box.

He had another chance 60 seconds later when sent clean through on goal but his chip went wide. With Leeds dominant, the goal was clearly coming and duly arrived just before the hour mark.

Mateusz Klich’s clever pass over the Forest defence released Hernandez who raced into the

. area and cleverly dinked the ball past the onrushing Forest goalkeeper Arijanet Muric.

Leeds keeper Kiko Casilla – a spectator for most of the game – had to pick the ball out of the net on 77 minutes following an almighty scramble in the area.

Lewis Grabban was credited with getting the final touch after Rafa Mir’s shot deflected off the striker and on to the post, before trickling over the line.

After an opening-day defeat, it was Forest’s first point of the season and boss Sabri Lamouchi ( left) said: “To play the best team in the league is not easy, so congratulations to my players to come back in the game and get the result.

“I told my players at half-time to play with more courage. We played probably the best team in this league, with the same manager for more than one year, with more or less the same players.

“We have new players, a new manager, a new way to work and we haven’t had a lot of sessions to work.”
