Rodgers: I don’t want to Pack in

- By Keith Webster

AARON RODGERS kicks off his 15th season on Thursday night, ready to play for another decade if his body can take it.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback will launch the NFL’S centenary season at Soldier Field as his side visit their most bitter enemy, the Chicago Bears.

Rodgers led the Pack to Super Bowl glory nine years ago when they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas.

But his fractured relationship with former head coach, Mike Mccarthy, and two seasons without qualifying for the playoffs, saw Mccarthy fired and Matt Lafleur appointed in his place.

Rodgers, who turns 36 in December, appears happier with the team’s prospects and is itching to get another season started, with the Super Bowl in Miami on February 2 his ultimate goal.

Passion

As he put the finishing touches to preparation for Thursday’s season kick-off, Rodgers said: “I envisage playing for as long as my body feels good and I have the love for the game that I do right now.

“It still fuels me and there is still a passion. I love the daily grind and the practice.

“If I can give everything to the team in that manner and my body feels good, I’m going to keep rolling.”

Rodgers has been voted the best player in the league in two of his 14 pro seasons but when it comes to honours, like all others, he has had to take a back seat to New England’s Tom Brady, who won the Super Bowl for the sixth time this year.

Brady is 42 and still going strong, leading Rodgers to wonder if he can do the same and finish his career in the perfect way some day.

When asked this week how he would like it all to end, Rodgers replied: “Win the Super Bowl when I’m 45 and ride off into the sunset.”
