SUPERSUB PUTS SWANS TOP

- By NATHAN HEMMINGHAM at Elland Road

STEVE COOPER will make sure his soaring Swansea side don’t get giddy at going top after Wayne Routledge’s last-gasp winner sunk Leeds.

The Swans left it late but a 90th- minute clincher from the substitute means they are flying high with five wins from t heir opening si x matches.

And as the celebrating travelling support milked every moment of this victory, Cooper ( right) says he is trying to put the pride back into this famous old club.

“Six games is too early to take any notice of the league table,” he said.

“I have enjoyed these six games, not just because we’re top of the table but I love this club.

“It’s a club to be proud of. I’m happy the fans are able to see that everyone, from the players to the staff, are doing all they can for the club.

“I said to the players before the game these are the games you have to be excited about. You have to come to Leeds and enjoy it, not fear it.

“You could see from the celebrations we enjoyed the win. Why not? We came here to win and we got it, so let’s enjoy it.

“It was the perfect result away from home – a clean ean sheet and a late e goal.”

Both teams started unbeaten and occupying the e top two places es before kick- - off, and it was Leeds who were first to settle.

Ezgjan Alioski came close to opening the scoring on eight minutes with a snap volley well saved by Swans keeper Freddie Woodman.

Stuart Dallas then had time and space to pick out the unmarked Patrick Bamford on 16 minutes but the striker was wasteful and headed wide.

Adam Forshaw should have at least tested Woodman when he curled an effort over the bar as Leeds dominated the first half.

They were almost ahead at the break wh when Pab l o H Hernandez’s c corner was headed on to the crossbar by captain Liam Cooper. Woo d ma n was by far the busier keeper and he was forced into action again in the 54th minute to save a Hernandez effort from 20 yards.

It was Hernandez again who had the game’s best chance on 71 minutes when he was slipped in on goal down the right but with just the keeper
