Point pleases Robins

Burton 0 Coventry 0

MARK ROBINS was pleased to come away from Burton with a hardearned point that saw Coventry go top.

Both sides hit the woodwork, with Zain Westbrooke lashing a long-range effort against a post midway through the first half for the Sky Blues, and Nathan Broadhead smacking a free-kick against an upright late on.

“It was always going to be a difficult game,” said Robins (above).

“I said that this was going to be our most difficult test this year and that is no disrespect to anybody we have played, but I know the way they play here and the way they do things and it proved that way.

“The second half was more like a basketball game in fairness, it was end to end.

“There were some good efforts and some good football played from both teams.

“There were a few chances, but not many. There was no quarter asked or given.

“I thought it was a really good advert for the League and for the two clubs.”

Brewers boss Nigel Clough was pleased despite not seeing his side grab what would have been just a second home league win of the season. He said: “It was a brilliant game.

“People say you have got to have goals in games, but I thought that was as good a 0-0 as you will see, especially in League One.

“Some of the quality of the play from both sides today was excellent.”

Clough admitted that from his viewpoint he thought Broadhead’s free-kick was in for what would have been the winner.

He added: “Half an inch the other way and it is in – or even the rebound going in off the keeper. We just didn’t quite get the break with it, but they hit the post as well.”
