Nahki nicks it for Hoops WELLS PUNISHES LIONS BLOOPER

- By STEVE JUDGE at the Den

MILLWALL goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski’s howler gifted QPR a fourth straight league win.

Nahki Wells made it two doubles in two games as he took advantage of Bialkowski’s fluffed 72nd-minute clearance.

What made it all the more gut-wrenching for Millwall was that it came just a minute after they had levelled through Shaun Hutchinson.

Wells had already shown his knack for being in the right place at the right time when he had fired Rangers ahead on 56 minutes.

Millwall boss Neil Harris said: “Goals change games. One minute you are up there, level with 20 minutes to go, and then make one individual error and the game is gone.

“I feel for Bart. He is a good lad and a good p pro. I think we deserved a point.”

Rangers fans were s si nging about a p promotion campaign at f full-time, with their side i in fourth place, just one point behind leaders Leeds.

But QPR boss Mark Warburton said: “It’s that type of league where if you can put a run together you can go up the table very quickly, and it can also very quickly go the other way so we will take it one game at a time.

“All credit to the players, to win four games in a row in this league is not an easy thing to do.

“To come here, a really tough venue, we are really pleased to leave with three points.

“Nahki’s done well for his goals. Forwards want chances, they want the ball in the box to do what they do best, and he jumped on his chances.”

Millwall were booed off at the end of a first half high on energy but rather low on quality.

Blocked efforts from QPR’S Jordan Hugill, Ilias Chair and Wells were the closest either side came to a goal.

But there was nobody in front of Wells when Todd Kane’s cross ran loose to him in the box just before the hour, and the on-loan Burnley striker dispatched the ball first time with his left foot into the right corner.

Hutchinson almost equalised with a near-post header from a corner on the right, before he beat QPR keeper Joe Lumley with a close-range stab from Jed Wallace’s corner on the left.

It looked as if it would be a momentum changer, but seconds later Bialkowski (above) made a hash of a long ball over the top, with his failure to control it presenting Wells with an open goal.

Millwall had an 88th- minute penalty claim denied when Wallace’s shot appeared to be blocked by Marc Pugh’s arm. MILLWALL QPR 5 ........ Shots on Target ......... 3 6 ........
