Music is the food of love for Mourinho

-

long time,’’ said the new White Hart Lane boss after masterminding Tottenham’s first away win since January.

Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane got the goals that put the visiting side in complete control before West Ham made it a nervy end for the Special One.

Mourinho, who has not lost his opening game at any club since his first job with Benfica in 2000, admitted: “It was very, very important.

“On Friday, I felt as if the players didn’t know if I approve of music in the dressingroom because the volume was low at the training ground.

“They were probably thinking, ‘Maybe this guy doesn’t allow or like it.’

“But the dressing room in the week is their home, they can do what they want, and when you go away and win, I love to hear music after the game.

“A victory is something you have to value. You can’t just say, ‘OK, we won’.

“In the same way, if you lose, you can’t be in a nightclub with your friends a few hours later.

“When you win you have to feel it.

“The music was loud. I don’t care what music it is – I just like the feeling the boys are happy.

“I’m very happy with them. I’m very happy for them.”

Dele Alli played a key role in the win – just days after Mourinho urged the midfielder to rediscover his old form.

Mourinho added: “He was like the team – he was brilliant for 60-65 minutes and then he paid also the price.

“But I think he was the old Dele Alli. The Dele Alli of a couple of years ago, who impressed impr not just England but a lot. lot

“He did exactly what I wanted h him to do after two days of w work.”

The defeat heaped more p pressure on West Ham’s Chilean bo boss Manuel Pellegrini after a seven match winless run for the Hammers.

Pellegrini (above) groaned: “We are not getting the results we want, especially here at home.

“We are making too many mistakes, especially without the ball, and every time we made a mistake in defending, they scored.”
