Woody: I will not panic

- By SIMON BIRD

Goals from Conor Gallagher and Jonathan Leko had injury-hit Charlton cruising at half-time.

But after Junior Hoilett saw his penalty saved by Dillon Phillips, Nathaniel Mendez-laing and Lee Tomlin hauled Cardiff level in a game that saw a staggering 38 attempts on goal.

“The character the boys showed really pleased me,” said new boss Harris ( below), who replaced Neil Warnock as boss.

“They were feeling a bit sorry for themselves at half-time, but we changed the shape and that enabled us to get up the pitch and put Charlton under pressure.

“I’m a huge football fan myself and all you want to see from your players is to have a right go and they really responded.”

Cardiff dominated the opening exchanges, but it was Charlton who took the lead on 13 minutes.

JONATHAN WOODGATE insists he won’t panic as Middlesbrough resume their relegation battle.

The Boro boss (right) admits he is “learning loads of lessons, good and bad” from his turbulent start in management.

His men have won only twice this season, the last time two months and nine games ago against

Reading, and he has warned of a “relentless” fight for points, starting against Hull today.

They have drawn four and lost five of their eir last nine games, leaving the club in the bottom three, and Woodgate said: “I’m not a panicker. I have to be cool and show that I won’t be panicking.”

“If I was panicking, what would that show to the players, what would that

we are because of the way we’ve been playing, especially over the last six games. We’ve played some really good football and deserved to win a few of those games.

“It’s relentless, games keep coming fast. There is a lot of competitiveness, but also a lot of inconsistency and that makes it so difficult.

“If you keep on doing the right things, you will start to win games – and we need to start winning games.”
