We need second Wind

SO MUCH for the season of goodwill.

No mistletoe but plenty of whine as rival managers Danny Cowley and Sabri Lamouchi exchanged verbals at half-time in the tunnel.

And on the final whistle Cowley was again involved as Forest staff held back midfielder Ben Watson, who had earlier been booked for a late tackle on Jonathan Hogg.

One mighty shoulder-toshoulder tussle between Hogg and Tiago Silva finished with the Huddersfield midfielder tumbling over an advertising

WIGAN forward Josh Windass has called for the misfiring Latics to start showing their quality.

The Lancashire strugglers are languishing in the relegation zone after 12 defeats and six draws from 22 league matches this season.

And 25-year-old Windass, son of former Premier League striker Dean, warned: “The team hoarding into a group of stewards. The hoarding landed on a ball boy, who seemed to be hurt too.

Cowley (right with Elias Kachunga) said: “Forest had lost 4-0 at home in their previous game and because of that they came here to kick us.

“I think our physio must have been on the pitch about seven times.

“I am disappointed with the lack of discipline and respect that it showed. I don’t like it but it was all heat-of-the -moment stuff.

“I wasn’t involved at the end and don’t know how it started. spirit is brilliant here but that’s not been shown in results. We need to show that in our performances. If we keep plugging away we will win more than we lose.”

Windass (right) bagged an impressive 18 goals in 41 games for former club Rangers two seasons ago but has yet to produce his best form at the DW Stadium.

I was just breaking it up. I was in a good mood at the end anyway.”

Just occasionally, a football match tried to break out, and when it did Town benefited.

Defender and skipper Christopher Schindler made the breakthrough, after Trevoh Chalobah’s shot was blocked, in the first half. And a thumping header by Steve Mounie from Karlan Grant’s corner was a knockout blow.

Joe Worrall’s late header ensured a dramatic finish and Cowley definitely owes keeper Kamil Grabara a bonus for the five goals in 45 appearances and this season has two from 10 games, so it’s little surprise he wants to kick on and add to that. And Windass knows there will be no better way to delight Latics fans than by scoring in tomorrow night’s Lancashire derby clash with

Blackburn at Ewood Park.

“We should be looking to beat everybody, not just late saves from Joe Lolley and Matty Cash.

Lamouchi tried to play down the half-time shenanigans.

He said: “There was a lot of tension. I was surprised but it was nothing special, just an argument at half-time.”

Blackburn,” said Windass. “That should be the mentality.”

Rovers, meanwhile, have won six of their last eight after a surprise slump.

Skipper Elliott Bennett says a unified team has been key to their welcome turnaround under boss Tony Mowbray.

“I would run through a brick wall for this manager,” said Bennett.

“We have a good honest group and we try and reflect how the gaffer is as a man.”
