QI BOUGHT a suit for my son this Christmas but it is the wrong size so he wants to return it. I cant find the receipt. Is there anything I can do? Leila Jefferies THE rule is the retailer must be shown “proof of purchase”. This does not necessarily mean the receipt. If you pay by card, the card or bank statement will be sufficient.
I WANT to buy a car and have seen a few within my price range. Does it make any difference if I buy from a private seller rather than a dealership? Peace Hart
YES. If you buy from a private seller your only right is for the car to be “as described”. By contrast, if you buy from a dealership you have a right for the car to be “as described”
AQAplus “fit for purpose” and “of satisfactory quality”. You will also have a greater chance of a remedy with a dealership if something goes wrong. MY electricity supplier has threatened to cut me off for non-payment of a bill. However, I dispute the bill because it is
Qdefinitely incorrect. What can I do? Obviously I do not want to get cut off? Yolande Garras
ASK your supplier to issue you with a deadlock letter – one setting out their final position. You can then lodge a complaint with the
Energy Ombudsman. And while they review your case you won’t be cut off.
I PURCHASED perfume for my wife for Christmas and have discovered it isn’t genuine. Do I have the right to send this back? Terry Wallop
YES. If the perfume is not genuine the seller will have breached the Consumerrights Act 2015, as the goods will not be “as described”. The seller will therefore have to refund you. I would also urge you to report the seller to Trading Standards.
