Swans in loan zone

- By Nick Pattison by Neil Moxley

SWANSEA hope to tie up a double loan deal for

Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster and Bristol City winger Kasey Palmer.

Steve Cooper, the ex-england Under-17 World Cup winning manager, hopes his relationship with

Brewster can sway him to head to the Liberty Stadium.

A host of Championship rivals, including promotionchasing Sheffield Wednesday, are also eyeing the teenager.

Former Chelsea trainee Palmer, 22, is another

January target for the Welsh club. He has scored once in 19 appearances so far this season since joining the Robins for £3.5million and could be made shipped out on a temporary basis.

FERNANDINHO believes Manchester City need to forget title chasing – and concentrate instead on a top-four finish.

The Brazilian wore a resigned look after Pep Guardiola’s side imploded at Molineux, leaving them to make up a massive 14-point gap if they want to retain their crown.

Even though the visitors had secured a two-goal lead just after the interval, three late strikes sank them as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side jumped into fifth.

And Fernandinho admitted the club has to re-adjust its sights.

He said: “In football, you never know what can happen. But after what happened at Wolves it will be hard.

“It’s not because of the result or because the gap is too big.

Honest

“But we have to be honest with ourselves. We are playing another competition now – we are fighting to be in the Champions League next year. We have to be realistic. It’s going to be tough to chase Liverpool. That’s it, that’s the reality.

“Is dropping out of the top four a danger? Of course.

“If we play more games like this, we’re going to lose more and then we’ll be in a bad position.

“We have to do more to try and win our matches and at least secure second place.”

Ederson’s dismissal in the 13th minute after he felled Diogo Jota outside the area made it a tough night.

Battle

Sheffield United have an extra day to rest and the veteran knows he is in for a battle against Chris Wilder’s side today.

He said: “Playing with 10 men since the 13th minute hasn’t been easy. That’s the way the Premier League is – it’s tough.

“And it will be like that against Sheffield because they are one of the toughest teams in the league.

“It’s going to be a test for us to see how we are going to react.

“I hope everyone is ready for it. We have to win.”
