Dack’s a big blow

-

ADAM NAGY is convinced that Bristol City are still good enough to make this season’s play-offs.

But after four defeats in a row, the Hungarian midfielder, 24, has told his team-mates that the time to prove it is now or never.

City have tumbled down the Championship, and Nagy (above) said: “Four losses on the spin is never a good thing. We have to get back to taking three points as soon as possible.

“We are playing at home, in front of our fans, our people. Now we can show what kind of person each of us is, and our character on the pitch, by bouncing back.

“We are in it to finish in the top six and like every other side we are aiming to finish in the top two.

“That might seem to be a little bit too far but if we get back on track and win five games in a row, that will come closer and closer.

BLACKBURN ROVERS boss Tony Mowbray is gutted that talismanic striker Bradley Dack’s season has ended.

Dack (below), who turns 26 on New Year’s Eve, requires surgery after being carried off with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in Monday’s game against Wigan.

Mowbray

(above) will be without his top scorer — 10 goals in all competitions this season — for 12 months.

“Bradley has had his scan and, as we thought, he has an ACL injury,” revealed Mowbray. “He will have that repaired in a week to 10 days.

“We’ll see him around this time next year.

“It’s a blow for Bradley first and foremost, but also for the club. We’re here to support him and make sure that he comes back stronger.

“We will try to do our best in the period that he’s unavailable for us.”

Mowbray could be boosted by the return from injury of Manchester City loanee defender Tosin Adarabioyo and Northern Ireland midfielder Corry Evans after they missed Boxing Day’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham.

Striker Fraizer Campbell and midfielder Alex Pritchard are both expected to be fit for Huddersfield. Centre-back Tommy Elphick is out for the season with knee ligament damage, but Danny Cowley’s Terriers squad is in decent nick.

On Dack’s absence, Cowley said: ”Bradley is a boy we know well because he lives around the corner from us.

“First and foremost we wish him well — it’s a nasty injury — and you never want to see that.”
