Caprice Bosses banned me from Strictly

Beeb snub over CBB turn

CAPRICE Bourret has revealed she got her skates on for ITV’S Dancing On Ice after being frozen out by BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing.

The model said her management repeatedly asked for a spot in the ballroom contest – but they gave her the cold shoulder.

And she reckons she was blackballed because she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2005.

Caprice, 48, said: “I think Strictly would be a lot of fun but they are just not having it.

“They just say because I was on Celebrity Big Brother. We have approached them but they continuously say no.”

Telly insiders say Strictly does not invite reality stars on to the show as it feels this would “devalue” the brand.

However, bosses made an exception this year with Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, 31.

He pulled out with an injury before the series had even started and was replaced by this year’s eventual winner, former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher, 35.

Now, American-born Caprice – pictured above skating with Christopher Dean – is joining the new crop of celebrities on the ITV rink. And it will not be the first time Caprice has tried out a risky sport in the name of entertainment.

She took part in ski show The Jump in 2017 – and credits it with saving her life.

The mum-of-two was forced to quit suddenly after suffering from headaches and blurry vision – and was diagnosed with a brain tumour that needed surgery.

Caprice’s career picked up again after the show and she jumped at the chance to take part in another prime time programme.

She said: “Since The Jump, it is like I have had a rebirth in the entertainment world. I am embracing it.

Expensive

“It is nice to have an income stream for my boys, as educating is so expensive.”

Dancing On Ice returns to ITV on January 5, with hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, plus judges Torvill and Dean, Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo and newbie John Barrowman.

Celebrities taking to the ice include Coronation Street’s Lisa George, former footballer Kevin Kilbane and Paralympian Libby Clegg.

Controversial comic Michael Barrymore was forced to pull out last week after breaking his wrist while practising.
