SAVVY PRINCESSES CAN RESCUE THE ROYALS

-

TELL you what. Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice are grafters.

They (possibly unlike their parents) are willing to play their part and put time into their heritage.

Alongside marrying well and doing daytime jobs, they put in hours of serious royal stuff. Charities, awards, all of that.

I’ve been along to loads of these things and they’re often there. They seem to be Her Majesty’s faves.

The Queen knows she needs young blood to shore up The Firm for the next generation. Charles and Camilla are in line whether we like it or not. And that like is growing, but they’re hardly young blood.

William and Kate are solid, we trust. Harry and Meghan are lost to us. For the moment.

So the Queen has come up with what she hopes could be a solution, especially regarding the current embarrassment of her favourite son, Andrew.

She is understood to want Beatrice and Eugenie to carry out more public engagements.

Charles was thought to be opposed to them taking on official roles because it conflicts with his vision of a “slimmed down” monarchy when he becomes king.

But look – Newcastle graduate Eugenie, 29, has a full-time job as a director of a Mayfair art gallery. Beatrice, 31, who has a degree from Goldsmiths, works in consulting.

Yes I know, yawn! How could you BE more entitled? But they are not royally stupid. They are competent and more savvy than their parents. So give them a go. They might just make the Queen

– and us – proud.
