Nuts about living to full
REGRETS, I’ve had a few... more than a few actually.
And it seems I’m not alone. Because we Brits spend around 110 hours a year dwelling on bad decisions or missed opportunities.
Eight in ten adults believe their lives would have turned out better if they had taken a risk or done something differently.
Six in ten wished they were in another job and a quarter rued letting an old flame go.
But others regret drinking too much, failing to go travelling, not saving enough money or getting into a toxic relationship.
The survey was carried out by KP as part of its “grab life by the nuts” campaign. Which is similar to a regret I have about a toxic relationship of my own.
well,
LIFE may begin at 40 but it will take you twice as long again to find joy.
Because, a psychologist claims humans don’t reach peak happiness until the age of 82. Blimey.
Why can’t my endorphins spike now, while I’ve still got the energy to make the most of the happy high?
We’re not all Jane Fonda, are we? Did you see her at the Oscars? Sensational.
She’s 82 but looks years younger, which is remarkable considering her health problems.
Bulimia, cancer, back surgeries, a hip and knee replacement for osteoarthritis caused by all those years going for “the
burn”. But when I interviewed Jane a while ago she told me she’d discovered “a new metaphor for ageing”.
“Although I can’t do all the things I used to I am happier,” she said.
“Your body may be weakening but your soul, your mind, your level of wisdom, your knowledge, your attitude, all the things that matter more than good knees, evolve upwards.
“So think of ageing as a staircase.” I’m trying, Jane. But all I see is a
Stannah stairlift.
