THE HAND Alisson’s divine intervention keeps Klopp’s
DEVOUT Christian Alisson Becker is turning into Liverpool’s ultimate saviour.
For as well as conducting baptisms in the swimming pool of his home, the Kop keeper is providing divine intervention on the pitch.
None more so than last night at windwhipped Carrow Road where he saved Jurgen Klopp’s runaway Premier League champions-in-waiting just when they needed him most.
Sadio Mane will grab the headlines with his deadlock-breaking 100th goal in English football.
But this victory owed as much to Alisson as anyone else in the red of Liverpool.
Alisson’s life is underpinned by a faith that is as unshakeable as his goalkeeping has been this season.
At £66.8million, he didn’t exactly come cheap from Roma.
But in splashing out a world record fee for the 27-year-old Brazilian, Liverpool bought themselves a class act who is more than playing his part in their unbeatable charge to the title.
Dedication
He spent the winter break training with goalkeeping brother Muriel Becker at his club Fluminense in Brazil – and his dedication paid off here.
Alisson has kept 10 clean sheets and conceded just eight goals in the 18 League games he’s played this season.
And while Klopp’s defence and attack collect the herograms most weeks, this time it was Alisson’s turn to weigh in with a vital contribution.
This was a game of few clear-cut chances but the one which fell Norwich’s way 35 minutes into this weather-hit clash was heaven-sent for Daniel Farke’s men.
After beating the offside trap, Lukas Rupp tried to slide a simple pass sideways to striker Teemu Pukki.
But Alisson, telegraphing the pass, was out in a flash to scoop the ball away with an outstretched arm that deflated everyone in yellow and green.
Astonishing
