KERRY S REALITY CHECK

- By Kelly Jenkins

KERRY Katona has revealed she wants to be an actress – but has been rejected by Hollyoaks.

Ex-atomic Kitten singer Kerry, 39, says she is ready to take on a new career challenge but has been knocked back by the Channel 4 soap.

She says: “Acting is what I really, really would love to do. I have tried to go for it but Hollyoaks said no to me.”

Mum-of-five Kerry, who won I’m A Celebrity in 2004, now hopes to land her own reality TV show instead.

She lashed out at former The Only Way is Essex stars Sam and Billie Faiers and Ferne Mccann who have their own ITV shows about being young mums.

Kerry, who turns 40 in September, says: “I need my own show, too. You’ve got all these young ones from Towie that have got their own shows, but my life is real life s**t, dealing with kids from 18 to six years old . Bloody hard work, I tell you.”

Monsters

After three failed marriages – to former Westlife star Brian Mcfadden, Mark Croft and George Kay, who died last year – Kerry is loved up again with personal trainer Ryan Mahoney, 31.

The pair have been together for almost two years and Kerry says it is the healthiest relationship she has ever had.

She says: “Ryan is unlike anyone I’ve ever dated before.

He’s very quiet, very shy, very private – he’s the opposite to me.

“It’s finally a normal relationship and it took me a while to get used to that. I am extremely happy.”

But she jokes:

“Ryan is the vainest person

I’ve ever met.

“He takes longer getting ready than me. I put a photo of him and the dog in the garden on Instagram and he made me delete it.

He’s so vain.”

But a sixth baby is definitely off the agenda for Kerry.

She says: “I wouldn’t mind giving birth but don’t think

I can go through pregnancy again. I think my body’s had enough of it.

“I wouldn’t mind having another baby but then they grow up and turn into monsters!”

Many thought Kerry had met ‘The One’ in Brian, who she married at 21 – but she says they were never meant to be.

“Me and Brian aren’t soulmates. We were babies when we got married,” she says. “It was such a public relationship – I was in a girl band, he was in a boy band – that people just can’t get over it.”

Kerry is home-schooling children Molly, 18, Lilly, 17, Heidi, 13, Max, 12, and Dylan-jorge, six, in lockdown but jokes that they’ve “gone feral”.

She has also been keeping in touch with her celebrity pals during the lockdown and regularly Facetimes Peter Andre and texts Keith Lemon star Leigh Francis.

Kerry says: “My most genuine friend in the industry would be Blue’s Antony Costa.”

Yet she admits that she barely speaks to Katie Price, 41, even though they were bridesmaids at each other’s weddings.

“It’s very, very rare,” she says. “A lot of people think me and Katie are best friends but she’s one of those that you only see when it suits her.

“Obviously I still love her to bits but I wouldn’t have a clue what is going on in her life.”
