Who dares sins Boxer wanted to steal car on SAS show

- By Janine Yaqoob TV EDITOR

BOXER Tony Bellew was moments from carrying out a real-life burglary and stealing a car on SAS: Who Dares Wins – before the crew stepped in.

The hardman says he was close to carrying out a crime on the Channel 4 show after “losing his mind”.

In tomorrow’s episode Tony, 37, and the remaining celebrities have to take part in an “escape and evade” challenge – and the sportsman was so determined to win he was prepared to go to extreme lengths.

“I was considering breaking into someone’s house and stealing their car,” the former WBC cruiserweight champion confessed. “That’s how far I was willing to go to avoid capture. We only realised at the last minute when the cameraman told us.”

Recalling his plan, Liverpoolborn Tony said he was going to ask Hollyoaks actress Nikki Sanderson, 36, and Rudimental musician DJ Locksmith,

33 – also known as Leon

Rolle – to help him.

He recalled: “I was going to send Locky down the back of the house, Nikki was going to knock on the door, and I was going to come through a side window, and we were going to get in, steal this man’s car, and drive off.

“But then the cameraman said ‘This house isn’t part of the show.’ I was really there thinking ‘I don’t care, I’ll just take the car anyway.’ That’s how far I was willing to go.” In last week’s show tough guy Tony squared up to former military man and show leader Ant Middleton, 39, before breaking down about the death of his brother-in-law.

Ashley Roberts, 32, fell from a balcony in Mexico in 2017. Dad-ofthree Tony says the gruelling regime of the show took its toll on his mental state.

“I think I’d lost my mind,” he admitted. “I hadn’t slept for days, we’d been on the run 12 hours, been on f***ing boats, up mountains. We were just all so determined to win.”

Watch tomorrow at 9pm.
