ROSE NOW BLOOMING

-

THE more Danny Rose speaks, the more I’d like to think he would consider a role in football administration, maybe with the PFA, when he finishes playing.

Rose not only sees a lot of football’s hypocrisy, but he is more than willing to call it out – and that is rare in today’s game.

He is a beacon of light and, dare I say, he reminds me a little bit of myself during my playing days because I used to speak my mind about certain issues and, quite often, I would get into bother for it.

Some fans like the idea of players speaking out until they actually do and then it can be a case of, “No, stay in your lane”.

But the fact Rose (below) has openly said we shouldn’t bring back football while people are still losing their lives in such numbers – on the back of speaking out about mental health and calling out Tottenham’s treatment of him – is testament to him.

And I’d like to think he would give serious thought to putting himself out there when he hangs up his boots rather than just walking off into the sunset.

He’s a modern player with modern experiences and a feisty, inquisitive nature.

In five or 10 years’ time, Rose could be one of those guys who are helping to revolutionise the

PFA with modern thoughts and ideas.

SO

Jose Mourinho wants a full month to prepare his Tottenham players for the Premier League’s return. Perhaps that’s his guilty conscience speaking. Remember his last season at Chelsea when he gave the players extra time off after winning the title

and they then had a jolly-up preseason? It took them eight weeks to get into the season – by which point it was too late. Let’s hope he uses the month wisely

this time.
