I had a package holiday booked for June but it was cancelled. I’m being offered vouchers only. The law that covers package holidays is The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangemen­ts Regulation­s 2018 – often referred to as the Packaged Travel Regulation­s.

Section 14 of the regulation­s clearly states that if a package holiday is cancelled by the organiser, the consumer is entitled to a cash refund within 14 days.

QI ORDERED a new table and chairs for my dining room, as well as matching side units. The side units have been delivered but I have now been told the table is no longer available. They’ve offered an alternativ­e. What are my rights? Will Redmond

YOU ordered the goods as a set so you can demand a full refund if it cannot be supplied. The side units will obviously need to be returned in pristine condition – at the retailer’s expense.

If the airline hasn’t cancelled the flight, that is correct. Consumers should not cancel flights, holidays or other services as they will not be entitled to refunds.

My advice to those with a flight or holiday booking already booked is to sit tight for now.

If the flight is later cancelled by the airline, passengers will be entitled to a refund. described, failing which the consumer is entitled to a full cash refund. The retailer in your case cannot insist on a discount only.

Potentiall­y yes, but this will be at the discretion of the airline. Most have a term in their conditions of carriage that states customers having to cancel on medical grounds will get a full refund.

But the medical condition generally needs to be serious and must be supported by evidence.

Whether airlines will pay out in circumstan­ces where passengers are advised not to travel because of Covid-19 remains to be seen.

NO, the retailer is entitled to refund you using the same method as you paid – in this case, a gift card.

YES if the purchase price is greater than £100.01, as you will be able to make a Section 75 claim. However, try not to buy from overseas unless you really have to.
