Seagulls’ dreams still Burn

- By TOM HOPKINSON

DAN BURN insists relegation-threatened Brighton aren’t daunted by a horror run-in that will see them face four of the Big Six in their last nine matches.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City will all visit the Amex within the next month.

And during that period the Seagulls will also come up against Champions Leaguechasing Leicester and relegation rivals Norwich.

But Burn said: “I don’t think the fixture list concerns the players.

“We’ve already beaten Arsenal this season and we are still full of confidence.

“I know we haven’t won a game in 2020, but the performances warranted better results.

“We have some big teams still to play, but we also have teams nearer the bottom as well.

“You want to play in the Premier League against these big teams to prove yourself against the best.”

Burn believes that the lack of crowd atmosphere will temporarily change Premier League football.

He added: “I know it’s a massive lift when we play at home, having our fans there, so it is going to be a big miss.

“But we’ve also seen a lot of players who seem to be better players at the training ground and then, come matchday, they don’t reach those heights.

“That might change a lot as well.

“We’re in an unknown period and you might see players perform a lot better without that added pressure of the crowd.

“Football will be a lot different when we return.

“It will be a lot more possession-based, with slower build-up, because you don’t have that adrenaline rush from the crowd when you are on a break.”
