I’LL ATTACK What knifeman told pal day before hotel horror

- By Dan Warburton

A KNIFEMAN shot dead by cops warned pals he would carry out an attack just hours before staging a hotel lobby bloodbath, it was claimed.

Staff at Glasgow’s Park Inn Hotel were warned by fellow asylum seekers that he was violently unhinged the night before the rampage.

He had complained about living conditions in the hotel – used to house asylum seekers during the Covid-19 pandemic – and said he was having difficulty with noise. The next day he stabbed six people, including hero cop David Whyte who raced to the scene and tackled the vicious attacker to the ground.

Friends of the attacker identified him as Badradeen Omar, a Sudanese asylum seeker in his 20s.

They said Badradeen – who is thought to have come to the UK on a lorry via France – told friends of his plans to attack on Thursday evening. A pal named Siraj, 22, told ITV News: “He said ‘I will attack’ so everyone should take it seriously.

“I told him, ‘there’s no need to attack’, and he said, ‘They hate me, I hate them, they are against me’.”

Yesterday Police Scotland confirmed brave PC Whyte, 42, was stable at the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

PC Whyte, 42, said: “The scene we were confronted with is something I will never forget.

“I would like to thank my colleagues who put themselves in harm’s way to contain this incident and assist with the treatment given at the scene by other emergency services.”

Ako Zada, who campaigns for refugees’ rights, claimed many residents had recently been moved from private accommodation to hotels.

He said it meant all spending money was taken from them and they were given three meals of a poor standard each day.

The “dehumanising” and “humiliating” conditions had left some residents depressed, Ako added.

It’s also claimed the knifeman had a conversation with an immigration lawyer at 11am am on Friday.

During the call a fellow resident told of the risk he posed – sparking a vow to call in a Home Office safeguarding team.

But before they could act the Sudanese man – believed to have been in the UK for six months – went on a rampage that left six people critically injured.

Three asylum seekers staying at the West George Street hotel were also stabbed during the rampage, as well as two hotel workers. All of them remain in hospital.

Armed cops hunted down the attacker and shot him dead.

Resident Beatrice Onwuka, 37, from Nigeria, revealed that Badradeen had changed his mind about seeking asylum.

She said: “He was fed up. He told me he wanted to go home. He didn’t want to stay here.”

He said, ‘They hate me, I hate them, they are against me’
