Don’t take a chance on me Luiz!

SHEFF UTD v ARSENAL COUGH UP FOR CLARETS BOSS DYCHE

- By Steve Bates @sbates_people EXCLUSIVE by Neil Moxley

BILLY SHARP has vowed to put Arsenal defender David Luiz under the spotlight again in the FA Cup today.

Luiz is eligible following a two-match ban for a red card in the 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, which was blamed on the erratic Brazilian star.

And Sharp insists although he likes Luiz he aims to pile more misery on the Gunners star. The Sheffield United striker says: “He’s a great guy actually, always very talkative.

“Luiz tries to talk on the pitch but after the game he is a very nice fella. He is a very talented footballer as well. It’s just that

FORMER Liverpool technical director Damien Comolli is heading an American consortium looking to buy a Premier League club, writes HARRY PRATT.

West Ham, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Newcastle – should the Saudis’ ongoing takeover collapse – are all on the radar of the US investors.

The Hammers appear to be favourites, providing they escape relegation.

Frenchman Comolli, 47, was an influential figure in English football between 1996 and 2012 as he worked for Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool in recruitment and strategic roles. he does make a few errors which have cost him.

“In that game at City he was at fault for one of the goals and obviously the red card and penalty he gave away didn’t help him.

“He is an amazing talent, really good on the ball.

“But, yeah, he does take chances and it is something we will target if he does play.

Edge

“Definitely, as a striker you need to try and get the edge on your opponents.

“So we’ll try and create something in our favour.

“But David Luiz is a very good footballer – there is no doubt about that.

“I know some people think differently, but he wouldn’t be

SEAN DYCHE won’t leave Burnley unless a new club stump up £6million.

The Clarets chief has a massive get-out clause built into the four-year deal he agreed two seasons ago.

Dyche (left), 48, is now hot property after cracks appeared at Arsenal if he wasn’t.” The veteran Blades hitman is fired up to grasp what could be his last chance of reaching a semi-final.

And he’s urging his teammates to be brave as they battle to end a post-lockdown run of three games without a goal.

Sharp said: “I’m 34, these chances don’t come around very often. I have been saying that to all the boys. It’s an unbelievable opportunity to get to the FA Cup semi-final.

“And it’s something we believe we can do.

“The restart has been disappointing but it can all change so quickly, especially with Wembley at the end of it.

“Obviously, it’s a huge ask to get past Arsenal... but we do believe we can win it. We’ve in the relationship between him and chairman Mike Garlick.

But despite the speculation, it seems that if the ex-chesterfield defender leaves Turf Moor, it won’t be on the cheap.

Dyche will be due around £3m if he is sacked – yet that is dwarfed by the fee that the Lancashire club will receive if he is tempted away.

However the issue between shown we can beat them at Bramall Lane already and want to repeat that.

“We’ve not been up to scratch at the minute, but we were bang at it before lockdown and if we can pick ourselves up, then why not?

“If you’d said at the start that we’d be eighth and in the quarter-finals, we’d have jumped at it.

Underdogs

“We want to win for us, our friends, the fans, our family and show what we are about.

“Maybe we go into it as underdogs, but we think we can win if we raise ourselves five or 10 per cent.

“We can’t wait to try and put it right. It’s about being a bit braver.” manager and chairman is not threatening to spill over, as technical director Mike Rigg is at the heart of the problem.

Dyche wants to choose his playing staff, while Rigg sees his job as protecting Burnley’s position in case Dyche goes – and that is the obstacle the club is trying to overcome.

The failure of the Clarets boss to name nine substitutes ahead of the 5-0 defeat at Manchester City was supposed to send out a message about the lack of resources, but it was overshadowed by the fall-out from the ‘White Lives Matter’ banner flown over the Etihad.

Crystal Palace have long been tipped as a possible destination for Dyche, while Aston Villa are also in the frame should their boss Dean Smith move on.
