DEPP UP FOR PIPPA COMIC
Court stress eased by watching Morgana on TV
JOHNNY Depp is getting light relief from his legal battle by laughing at Brit comedian Morgana Robinson.
The film star is involved in a High Court case that has sparked lurid headlines over his relationship with ex-wife Amber Heard.
After each day’s gruelling proceedings, he is said to have become hooked on routines by Morgana, who played Pippa Middleton in royal parody The Windsors,
The impressionist, 38, had a bit part on My Family, her own show on Channel 4 and her series The Agency is an iplayer hit.
A source said: “Johnny has been very focused on the trial, getting early nights and hanging out in his hotel suite.
“But this is an intense case and he is enjoying British TV, comedies especially.
“He just loves Morgana and thinks that her impressions are hilarious. He’d love to meet her after the trial.”
Depp, 57, is suing News Group Newspapers, publishers of The Sun, over a 2018 story labelling him a “wife beater”.
He has been in a £2,000-a-night London hotel suite. Sources say he orders room service, eats alone while watching British sitcoms and goes to bed by 11pm to be fresh for the case next day.
Depp has long been a fan of UK comedy. He adored cult BBC series The Fast Show and in 2000 appeared in one of its sketches involving the “Suit you sir” catchphrase.
Last week his personal life was laid bare as he was accused of 14 domestic violence incidents, which he strenuously denies.
He says the allegations are a hoax built up over years by the actress as an “insurance policy”.
The court heard one claim that Heard, 34, or one of her friends soiled the couple’s bed which caused Depp to end their marriage. She blamed her dog.
Case continues.
