Lee: it’s a shocker!

- By RON LEWIS at the Valley

LEE BOWYER vented his frustration at referee Darren Bond as a disallowed goal and the decision not to give a late penalty plunged Charlton into the relegation mire.

Chuks Aneke looked onside when his first-half goal was ruled out, while Jake Forster-caskey picked up a yellow card for diving in the dying moments when he went to the floor in the penalty area.

It meant that George Puscas’s (above) third-minute penalty gave all three points to Reading.

Charlton manager Bowyer said: “Decisions have cost us, the officials have cost us the game, it is plain and simple. Chuks Aneke, his goal is a goal, I said to the fourth official, the linesman can’t just guess.

“Then [for the penalty] Jake got dragged to the floor. You have the offside and the penalty, big decisions.

“These are big moments, there are careers on the line. At this stage of the season, our players give everything and we haven’t got our rewards.

“My report is not going to be good for him [Bond]. Something has to be done.”

Reading, safely in mid-table, got the perfect start, as Puscas fired them ahead from the penalty spot after

Andy Rinomhota’s run through the defence was halted by Deji Oshilaja.

Mark Bowen, the Reading manager, said: “I feel a little sorry for Lee Bowyer. It was one of those days when they were screaming for everything but didn’t get anything.

“I’ve been there too, so you will take what you can get, but there were some decisions I raised my eyebrows at.”
